The secret of a hidden gesture

There was a rule in the workshop. No roll of silk could be cut before passing through her hands. A few centimetres were enough. She would run the fabric between her fingers, study it against the light, and sometimes simply feel it. Silk, at that moment, was not yet a tie.
It was a decision. More than seventy years later, that quiet gesture remains.
